Things to Do Metro Atlanta August 2024

🎶 🎤 Alive in Roswell - Downtown Roswell

Date and Time: Thursday, August 15 from 5 pm - 9 pm

Third Thursday of Every Month (April - October)
Location: Historic Canton Street in Downtown Roswell
Why Go:  Street Festival offering two venues. Each venue has a unique blend of music, beverage tents and food trucks. Plus.  20+ vendors representing local businesses are in attendance. Expect a large and lively crowd. Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash and you pick up after them.

🌅 🎶Sundown Social - Sandy Springs

Date and Time: Select Thursdays, August 15, 22 & 29 at 6 pm

Outdoor Bar &  Food Trucks open at 5:30 p.m. 

Sidewalk entertainment is 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Location: 1 Galambos Way, Sandy Springs

Why go: If you haven’t spent any time in City Springs, this would be a great way to check out all that it has to offer. There is usually plenty of parking and it’s a great relaxed vibe…and leave the cooking to someone else. From local musicians providing sidewalk entertainment, a food truck and an outdoor bar with beer, wine and a signature monthly cocktail, available for purchase…. Thursday night will become a favorite.

🎸 Avenue Live - East Cobb Avenue

Date and Time: Every Friday, from 6 pm to 8 pm (April - October)

Location: The Plaza at the Avenue East Cobb

Why Go: Local artists kick off the weekend in a low key relaxed atmosphere at The Plaza. Bring tailgate chairs. Restaurants offer dining specials and outside food is not permitted.This is a more quiet laid back crowd and small children are able to walk around and play.

🐖🍑 🍺Pigs & Peaches BBQ Festival - Kennesaw

Dates and Times: Friday, August 16, 2024 from 6 pm to 10 pm
                            Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 10 am to 10 pm

Location: Adams Park, 2600 Park Drive, Kennesaw

Parking:  Free public parking and courtesy shuttle is available at Kennesaw First Baptist Church, 295 North Main St

Why go: You will not be disappointed that this super fun festival is in its 23rd year with an estimated 60,000 attendees. It has become one of the top regional festivals to attend. Get ready to try the BEST BBQ there is. This was originally an amateur grillers event, but has turned into a sanctioned competitive team cookoff. Multiple stages with live music all day long from some of the best and most popular local artists. Enjoy local dance studios and chorus provide regional entertainment. Games, contests, street vendors and a plethora of things to do. This is one festival you don’t want to miss. 

🎶🎤🎵 Glover Park Concert Series - Marietta Square

Date and Time: August 23, 2024 at 8 pm

                         Monthly Concert on the Last Friday of the Month (April - September)

Location: Historic Marietta Square

Band: Troubadour Project (70s Rock Revival)

Why go: If you want to make Friday night a little more special, the Glover Park Concert would be just the thing. This free outdoor concert has become a local favorite. It features local and national artists that have a bit of a following. A limited number of tables are sold that provide “front row seats” or bring a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy the concert. Tents, umbrellas, canopies, tarps, ropes, etc…are strictly prohibited. If you really want to bring a table, just make sure you set up in the North or East Park Square on the street, which is the only area where tables are permitted.

🎥 🍿Movies by Moonlight - Sandy Springs

Date and Time: Friday,August 23, 2024 at 8:30 pm

Location: Heritage Amphitheatre Lawn

                6110 Blue Stone Road

                Sandy Springs, GA 30328

Why go: Better than a Drive-In, enjoy a movie night under the stars at Movies by Moonlight where favorite films play on a big 30-foot screen. With tiered lawn seating, the whole family will be happy because everyone gets a great view! Bring blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy a super fun Friday evening outside. The Popcorn Lady concession stands open at 7:30 pm and offer hot buttery popcorn, hotdogs, candy and more. Beer, wine, soda and their exclusive “Moonlight Mocktail”  are available for purchase as well.  Concessions open at 7:30 pm.  Other than service animals, pets are not allowed. 

🎵 🎸 Riverside Sounds Outdoor Concert - Roswell

Date and Time: August 24th at 7:30 pm

                          Monthly on the 4th Saturday of the Month (April - September)

Why go: One of the friendliest outdoor concerts….You’ll need to leave your tents at home but bring your lawn chairs, coolers, food and drinks (including alcoholic beverages) because they are all permitted. You can even bring little Fido because this is a pet friendly event! If you prefer to leave the cooking to someone else, then just bring your lawn chair or blanket because food trucks are set up by 6 pm and will stay on the premises until they sell out!  Beer, wine and sangria are also available for purchase until sold out!

🇪🇸 🇵🇹 Cobb County International Festival - Jim Miller Park

Date and Time: Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 11 am to 4 pm

Location: Jim R. Miller Parks & Event Center

                2245 Callaway Road SW

                Marietta, GA 30080

Why go: The 2024 International Festival showcases and supports a multitude of cultures through food, entertainment, arts and economic growth. This is a great way for residents to experience diverse cultures in one afternoon and enjoy international cuisine, a variety of performances, and arts. 

🍦🍨20th Annual Miss Mary's Ice Cream Crankin' - Roswell United Methodist

Date and Time: Sunday, August 25 at 2 pm

Location:Roswell United Methodist Church 

                     814 Mimosa Blvd 

                     Roswell GA, 30075

Why go: Enjoy sampling over 100 flavors of homemade ice cream all churned by local residents and dedicated volunteers of The Drake House, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending homelessness in the community.  In addition to ice cream eating contests and kid’s activities, the ice cream crankers/team’s compete for top awards by local judges. 

🎨 👩‍🎨Art in the Park (Marietta Square)

Dates and Times: August 31 - Sept 2, 2024 from 10 am to 5 pm

Location: Marietta Square

Parking: Downtown Marietta Parking Map. Expect to pay a reasonable fee for parking.

Why go: The only fine arts festival held in Cobb County and ranked #13 by Sunshine Artist Magazine in 2022. With over 50,000 attendees and in its 38th year, it’s no wonder the festival is consistently awarded a Top 20 Event by the Southeast Tourism Society. Over 220 artists from around the country in every media of art. Spend the day surrounded by art in a casual outdoor event that is family friendly and allows the kids to have their hand at art and creativity. Fun for the whole family!
