Pope High School – East Cobb
Alan C Pope High School was founded in 1987. Pope received the prestigious Georgia Blue Ribbon of Excellence in only its second year of operation. 1900 students attend Pope and their campus is an active one. 50% of the student body participates in athletics and over 90% participate in extracurricular activities. Educating well rounded students is a hallmark at Pope. Above all, their main belief is: We believe that every student should be afforded the opportunity to achieve in academics, athletics, fine arts, as well as, service and leadership. Certainly, encouraging students to achieve success in more than one area helps them become well rounded.

Elementary Schools: Eastside, Kincaid, Mt. Bethel, Mountain View, Murdock, Shallowford Falls, Timber Ridge.
Middle Schools: Dodgen, Hightower Trail.
Academics
Academics are an integral part of life as a Pope student. In addition to on level and Honor classes, Pope also has a well established Advanced Placement program. Students at every grade level are eligible for AP classes. Another option for Pope students is the Academies@Pope. Three Academies offer a unique and rigorous curricula. They combine academic and occupation-related course requirements to students of exceptional merit. Their goal is to prepare students for college and expose them to high-tech, high-need career options in STEM, Global, and Hospitality fields. The three Academies are Globalization, Culinary Arts and STEM.
Athletics
Classroom achievements match athletic and extracurricular achievements. As a result, students and coaches push the standard upward academically and also reach extraordinary heights athletically. For that reason, Pope has earned 100 region championships and 25 state championships. In 2013-14 the athletic teams won the GADA Director’s Cup in Class AAAAA. This award recognizes the school that sees the most success in the state playoffs stretched across all sports. Pope fields 15 different GHSA-sponsored sports divided over 23 Varsity teams.
Fine Arts
The Fine Arts program at Pope has something for almost everyone. The Band performs at Football games, Competitions and stage performances throughout the year. Color Guard also performs with the Band for Marching Season and Competitions. Orchestra also enjoys performing in the new Performing Arts Center. They either perform solo or combined with the Show Band and Chorus during the Holiday Showcase. Finally, there is growing interest in Pope’s Drama Club. This club meets weekly and puts on 6 performances a year.
