Smyrna

Smyrna is located about 10 miles northwest of Atlanta, Georgia and is considered an integral part of the Metro Atlanta area. Named the “Jonquil City,” because of the thousands of Daffodils which flourish in gardens and along the streets in early spring.

Over the years, the City of Smyrna – covering  15 sq. miles – has become a vital and active member of the regional landscape. Smyrna is just a 15 minute drive from downtown Atlanta. The downtown area has been revitalized and includes a library, community center, retail development and mixed-use development, and city hall. The neighborhoods which surround the downtown area have an array of amenities for residents.

Known for it’s Parks

There’s a park for everyone in Smyrna. Thanks to residents’ support for the 2005 Parks Bond, the City was able to make significant investments in multiple parks projects. These projects include both new and renovated parks. Smyrna maintains athletic fields for organized sports like baseball, softball, and soccer. It also offers passive recreation areas for cycling, walking, picnicking, free play, and community gardening.  Neighborhood parks throughout the City feature playgrounds. Smyrna even has two dog parks for its four-legged residents.

The Community Center is located in the Village Green, which is the heart of Smyrna. Here you will find a gymnasium, a work out room with equipment. Summer Day camps are also available. It is the perfect setting for festivals, art shows, summer movie series and many other community activities. The gazebo on the Village Green is also a popular place to host to weddings!

Recreation Center

The Aline Wolfe Adult Recreation Center is a facility for adults age 55 and older. The center features a meeting room/game room, an arts and crafts room, and a fitness room complete with state-of-the-art exercise equipment for senior adults. Regular activities include day trips and group fitness classes.

The Wolfe Center is adjacent to the Therapy Pool. The therapy pool provides aquatic classes and open swim to improve health for a better quality of life for seniors.
