Sope Creek Elementary School

At 30 years old, Sope Creek is one of the largest elementary schools in Cobb County. It serves about 1200 students in grades K – 5. Sope Creek is named after the nearby creek that runs through East Cobb.

-Sope Creek is known for innovative learning, high expectations, and great family involvement.

-Sope Creek offers Advanced Content classes for 4th and 5th grade for ELA/Reading and Math. These students are grouped together in one homeroom class and taught both subjects by the same teacher. Placement is determined by criteria.

-The School Council includes representatives from PTA, Foundation, Administration, Counselors and Teachers.  They work together and facilitate communication between the various groups.

-Sope Creek is STEM Certified by Cobb County School District.

-Sope Creek’s PTA ensures advocacy for EVERY CHILD, ONE VOICE. This group of dedicated volunteers helps with every aspect of school. Just a few of the PTA sponsored committees include: Octoberfest, Birthday Book Club, Holiday Bears Program, and Beautification Committee.

-The Sope Creek Foundation was founded in 1996 to address the shortfalls in funds received from the state. The Foundation provides resources that create rich educational experiences for all students. Examples of Foundation funds at work include: Orton-Gillingham training for teachers, Grade level teacher grants, iPad and iPad cart, laptops and laptop carts.
