Dunwoody is a northern suburb of Atlanta located in DeKalb County. Dunwoody was incorporated as a city on December 1, 2008. Residents enjoy the best of both worlds: tree-lined neighborhoods plus easy access to downtown Atlanta. Getting to Atlanta is an easy commute either by car or on a MARTA train.
Dunwoody is home to seven parks and more than 170 acres of green space. Therefore, residents can enjoy a host of outdoor activities, including skateboarding, tennis, hiking, zip lining, and lots more. Walk, run or ride a bike to a number of shops and restaurants scattered throughout Dunwoody.
In addition to the outdoor activities, this area is home to a strong community of creative people who foster a growing arts-and-culture scene. Stage Door Players is Dunwoody’s favorite nonprofit theatrical troupe. They perform quirky shows in which audience members can participate in the productions. The Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta (MJCCA) features a wonderful Arts and Culture Program. Spruill Center for the Arts is located in a historic farmhouse. This pillar of the arts community hosts creative workshops for locals and visitors. It also has a gallery of rotating exhibits and feature considerable space dedicated to local artists
Shopping has put Dunwoody on the map. At the center of it all is Perimeter Mall, featuring the best shops around Atlanta. Also, explore the locally-owned boutiques and well-known favorites of Dunwoody Village and Perimeter Place. Just a short ride away is Atlanta’s Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza, featuring high-end shopping. For a truly local experience, be inspired by local artistry at the Spruill Center for the Arts, where handmade art and jewelry makes for beautiful one-of-a-kind souvenirs.

Dunwoody is one the most popular dining destinations in the Atlanta area, therefore its long list of award-winning restaurants continues to grow. Known for its variety of dining establishments, restaurants include upscale steakhouses, family-owned Italian restaurants, authentic ethnic cafes, fast-casual burger joints and local coffee shops. Most area restaurants of this perimeter city are family-friendly and informal, while many are located within walking distance of area hotels and the local MARTA station.
