Marietta

The City of Marietta is a full-service municipality. It’s unique history, sense of community and modern quality of life gives Marietta a rich history which dates back to 1824.

Marietta is 15 miles northwest of Atlanta and the Cobb County seat. At 23 square miles, it is one of Georgia’s most populous cities, with 56,579 residents calling the city home.

The business area is centered around the Square and is home to several hotels, banks and the courthouse. The Square still remains a hub of activity today as it is the home of many restaurants, the Strand Theater and one of a kind shops. No matter what time of year, there is a festival, concert, Artisan or Farmer’s Market happening in the Square.

Schools

Marietta City Schools (MCS) is the school district which runs the public schools. In contrast to other public schools in Cobb County, they operate separately from the Cobb County School District. MCS became one of Georgia’s first Charter Systems in June 2008. The MCS charter system includes eleven schools: seven K-5 elementary schools, one sixth grade academy, one middle school, one high school, and one grades 3-5 elementary magnet school (Marietta Center for Advanced Academics).

Marietta has over 30 public parks. Just a few of the activities offered are: picnic facilities, playgrounds, hiking and walking trails, and swimming. It also has organized Youth Sports program which include teams for Golf, Gymnastics, Softball, Baseball, Tennis, Track and Basketball.
