Simpson Middle School

About Simpson
Located in East Cobb County, Simpson was founded in 1988 and today serves over 900 students. Simpson teachers, staff and students are working hard to improve the already successful STEM program. They have partnered with both their feeder high schools, Lassiter and Sprayberry, to accomplish this. One of their main goals is to prepare their students for the challenges of high school curriculum.

Academics
Students are placed in On Level or Advanced Content (AC) classes based on test scores and teacher recommendations. AC classes cover the same material as On Level, but dig deeper into the information. Math classes go beyond the AC level and will affect a student’s Math placement in High School. French and Spanish are offered in 8th grade at Simpson. The school is currently working toward STEAM certification.

PTSA/Foundation
Parents are welcomed and encouraged to get involved at Simpson through it’s PTSA and Foundation. PTSA serves Simpson through the many services they provide. Some of them are: Front Office Volunteer, Fresh Fruit Fridays, Dad’s Initiative, Science Night and Red Ribbon Week. The Foundation funds Educational Opportunities not covered by the Cobb County Budget. It’s mission is to strengthen the academic achievement and educational outcomes of Simpson students. Recently this has focused on STEAM certification for the school.

Connections
Connections are offered for all Simpson students as a compliment to their Academic classes. Each student takes two connections each quarter. Music is a popular Connection choice. Students can participate in Band, Orchestra or Chorus. Other Connection classes include Art, PE/Health, and Technology.

Student Activities
There are many clubs for students to choose from at Simpson. A sampling includes American Sign Language Club, Book Club, Diversity Alliance, Jazz Band, Organizational Club, Pop Dance Club and Yearbook. Each club has at least one teacher as a sponsor and advisor.
