About Dickerson

Dickerson Middle School is a 2017 National Blue Ribbon Winner. Located in East Cobb County, Dickerson was founded in 1980 and today serves over 1200 students. Dickerson’s Mission is “Lead by Example” and it’s Vision is “Developing the Skills and Habits that Create Bright Futures”.

Academics

Dickerson is an Advanced Placement Certified School. They offer Advanced Content Courses in Reading, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies. Screening for AC classes occurs prior to the start of each school year. Placement is based on test scores, such as the Iowa Test. Students must maintain an 80 or above in each AC class to remain in the program. In 8th grade qualifying students take Spanish as a foreign language.

PTSA/Foundation

Parental involvement is a cornerstone of Dickerson’s PTSA and Foundation. PTSA serves Dickerson through a number of volunteer committees such as Book Fair, Field Day, Hospitality, Hearing and Vision Screening, Media Center and many other committees. The mission of the Dickerson Foundation is :”To be where Innovation and Education Collide!”. One of the biggest initiatives they are funding  is an Outdoor Classroom. Past projects have included improvements to the school gym and laptop carts for classroom use.
