About Sprayberry
Sprayberry High School is located in Northeastern Cobb County. Established in 1952, it has been located on Sandy Plains Road since 1973. Sprayberry serves students from a variety of ethnic groups, socio-economic levels, and academic abilities. McClesky, Daniell and Simpson are the Middle schools that feed into Sprayberry. This year, Sara Griffin was named Principal. Her vision includes increasing the academic rigor, while still maintaining a balance with athletics and fine arts for students.
Feeder Pattern:
Elementary Schools: Addison, Bells Ferry, Blackwell, Chalker, Keheley, Kincaid, Mountain View.
Middle Schools: Daniell, McClesky, Simpson
Academics
Academics are in the spotlight at Sprayberry. Students can choose from 21 Advanced Placement (AP) classes, as well as 3 Academies that offer intensive studies in Spanish, Leadership, Law and Public Service, and STEM. Sprayberry offers courses that might not be found in many high schools through CCSD’s CTAE (Career, Technoloy and Agriculture Ed.) department. These classes allow students to explore career interests and gain real world experience. Currently offered are: Audio Video Technology and Film, Marketing, Healthcare Science, Culinary Arts, Graphic Arts, Engineering, Cosmetology and NJROTC.
Athletics
Sprayberry is part of the GHSA region 6-AAAAAA. 23 Varsity Sports are available, as well as Junior Varsity. Some sports, such as Football and both Girls and Boys Basketball, have Freshman teams as well. Sprayberry has an active Junior/Feeder sports program as well. Students that attend Middle schools that feed into Sprayberry are eligible to participate in the Junior programs. Sports offered include Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Cheerleading and Cross Country/Track.
Fine Arts
Sprayberry has an active Marching Band, Chorus, Orchestra and Drama Club. The Band of Gold is the nickname for Sprayberry’s Marching Band. To date, they have earned hundreds of awards from local, state and national music festivals, marching competitions and parades. Concert band has earned awards as well, with over 50 years of superior ratings, concert festival awards and grand championships. Chorus consists of Three Ensembles that meet during the school day and several smaller ensembles, quartets, trios and select groups that meet after school. They present 5 major concerts per year along with many other extra-curricular performances. Sprayberry’s Orchestra is active as well, performing several times a year, and sending students to both District 12 Honor Orchestra, as well as the North Georgia Honor Orchestra. Drama Club is an extracurricular activity. They meet several times a month, and put on shows throughout the school year. They also participate in the One Act Play Competition.
