Burt’s Farm*****
5 Burts Pumpkin Farm Rd Dawsonville, Ga 30534
Open 7 days a week, 10am-5pm
Burt’s Farm is a popular pumpkin farm with history, and long standing superb customer service. Therefore, it is an annual tradition for many families. Above all, the tractor pulled hay ride is a must-do. The ride runs throughout the Burt Farm property. You can see Amicalola Falls from a distance during the ride.
With so many visitors, restaurants in this area can get crowded. For that reason, I’ll let you in on a secret lunch spot. After your pumpkin patch visit, stop by Under the Hemlock Campgrounds and eat at the country store. Make sure you order the Brunswick stew (probably the best one next to your mama’s). Grab some boiled peanuts for the ride home because that will truly give you the full experience.
Helpful Hint: If you can go on a weekday, the crowds won’t be as bad. Don’t wait until late October to visit Burt’s. The biggest and prettiest pumpkins will be gone.
Uncle Shuck’s Corn Maze*****
Dawnsonville, GA
Also located in North Georgia, not too far from Burt’s, is Uncle Shuck’s Corn Maze. A new corn maze is created each year. As a result of the changing corn maze, there are many who enjoy this tradition each year. The bird’s eye images featured on their home page are amazing. While the corn maze is the highlight, it seems shooting the corn cannon, hayrides and bonfires are certainly popular as well.
Another activity, or maybe a date night, is the Haunted Maze tour around Halloween.
Helpful Hint: You can purchase tickets ahead of time on their website. Head there early, or on a weekday, to beat the crowd.
Still Family Farm***
5630 Macland Rd, Powder Springs, GA 30127
Open Saturdays and Sundays from 10am – Sunset
Also not too far from East Cobb, sits the Still Family Farm. Owned and Operated by the Still Family, this kid- friendly pumpkin patch has much to offer. It seems like the giant hamster wheel (Roly Poly) and the wagon rentals can make this fun visit an even better one.
Helpful Hint: If you don’t make it out this fall, check the farm’s website for upcoming events. The Still Family also visits the community for presentations about their history and farm.
After the Patch
When you get home from the pumpkin patch, don’t forget to carve pumpkins with your little ones. To get everyone even more into the spirit, we suggest making Halloween themed snacks and a Halloween music playlist. Don’t carve the pumpkin too early, or it will easily rot! Also, turn the fun into a little bit of math by counting pumpkin seeds before roasting.
We hope you have an fantastic fall season, enjoying the cooler temperatures and time spent with family. Finally, have a great time at the pumpkin patch!
