The Ultimate Where To Eat Gluten-Free in Marietta

A few years ago my wife found herself feeling ill after meals. We would finish lunch and she would have to lie down shortly after and would feel sick the next day. She would complain saying she didn’t understand why it was only her who would get sick. Shortly after she was diagnosed with celiac disease (gluten intolerance). You may know it by another name, a gluten allergy. I think in 2018 it’s fairly safe to assume most every has heard the words “gluten-free”. Not everyone has celiac disease, some choose to eat gluten-free for the added health benefits. And finding gluten-free alternatives can be difficult and without some guidance downright disappointing.

Well, count it your lucky day! Here is a list and some suggestions of our favorite gluten-free cafes, restaurants, bakeries and other eateries. And I’ll save you the suspense…they’re all delectably delicious!

The Melting Pot ✭✭✭✭ | Price: $$$$

2500 Cobb Pl Ln NW #800, Kennesaw, GA 30144

(770) 425-1411

If any of the restaurants in the list get a medal for most gluten free choices, The Melting Pot would take top podium. The Melting Pot has been one of my favorite restaurants since after high school. Although a good deal pricey, The Melting Pot earns the recognition it gets from its fantastic service, large array of menu items, the well trained staff, and the cleanliness of the establishment.

Menu Highlights: Just about everything is good, but be sure to tell the staff that you have a gluten allergy. They’ll do the rest.

Ted’s Montana Grill ✭✭✭✭ | Price: $$

2500 Cobb Pl Ln NW #210, Kennesaw, GA 30144

(678) 581-7890

Delicious food with fresh ingredients made to order in a comfortable atmosphere…what’s not to love? They have a separate gluten free menu and will cover the grill with tin foil if you mention you have an allergy. They’re glad to help, and are very understanding of those with allergies.

Menu Highlights: Balsamic Blue Steak, Cedar Plank Salmon, New York Strip

Pappasito’s Cantina ✭✭✭ | Price: $

2788 Windy Hill Rd SE, Marietta, GA 30067

(770) 541-6100

The authenticity of this local Tex-Mex is superb! I’ve enjoyed it on numerous occasions and have always had a great experience. They’ll bring out your own basket of gluten-free tortilla chips, but I wouldn’t say the servers are well educated on gluten allergies. You’ll have to instruct them if you hope to have an accident free experience. Aside from that, you will enjoy a fantastic meal.

Menu Highlights: Salmon Mango Salad, Beef Brisket (soft taco), Guacamole

Red Curry Thai ✭✭✭✭ | Price: $$

4724 Lower Roswell Rd, Marietta, GA 30068

(470) 228-0221

A bit pricey, but a fantastic Thai food without having to drive all the way into the city. The restaurant is small with an equally small staff, but what they lack in size they make up for in hard work, friendliness, and flavor! I recommend visiting on a week night, as it can get pretty busy on the weekends and service might be slower due to the crowds and the lack of servers.

Menu Highlights: Coconut Soup, Panang Curry, Red Curry

Gluten Free Cutie ✭✭✭✭✭ | Price: $

1066 Alpharetta St, Roswell, GA 30075

(770) 518-7858

One of the tough parts of being married to someone who’s gluten free is missing out on some of the delicious places you’re used to, not so with Gluten Free Cute. I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything when I eat one of their cakes or cupcakes. And if you venture inside, I know you’ll enjoy the fun Instagram worthy decor.

Menu Highlights: Green Tomatoes Biscuits, Lemon Poppy Seed Scones, Chocolate Cake Pops

2B Whole Gluten Free Bakery ✭✭✭✭ | Price: $$

42 Milton Ave, Alpharetta, GA 30009

(470) 395-5248

2B is another favorite when it comes to baked goods! I love the fresh vibe right when you enter. The space is small, but the staff make it feel really warm and welcoming with their upbeat and helpful attitude. One of the things that makes 2B fantastic is if you’re not in the mood for sweets, you can pick-up fresh-to-order turkey & avocado sandwiches during a lunch break, calzones, and if you have the hankering…pizza. Prepare to open your wallet a little bit, as many of the items can be pricey, but well worth the cost.

Menu Highlights: Apple Pie Bar, French Baguette, Cupcake Parfait

Kiosco ✭✭✭✭✭ | Price: $$

48 Powder Springs Street Southeast, Marietta, GA 30064

(678) 337-7999

This Colombian menu is excellent! If you have a gluten intolerance you’ll be happy to know you can have anything, but the desserts. Yes! The staff is really a treat and take special care to hear any concerns you voice. The orders come out generously sized and the prices are fantastic if you take into consideration it’s gluten-free to order. I’ve heard from many of our friends that this is their favorite gluten-free restaurant.

Menu Highlights: Chicken Empanadas

Marilyn’s Gluten Free Gourmet ✭✭✭✭✭ | Price: $

1007 Mansell Rd, Roswell, GA 30076

(770) 587-5874

When birthdays come up in our house we order our cakes from here. Marilyn is a genius and if you have one of her cakes you might even feel lucky to be gluten-free, so that you have the excuse to learn about her recipes. And you don’t have to wait for special holidays and birthdays to visit, her baked bread is perfect for slicing up for sandwiches.

Menu Highlights: Cheese Straws, Chocolate Chip Cake, Carrot Cupcake

Twisted Kitchen ✭✭✭✭ | Price: $$

125 E Barrett Pkwy, Marietta, GA 30066

(770) 675-3721

I LOVE Italian food! After Mexican food, it’s a very close second. And just as much as I love Italian food…I love a bargain. Twisted Kitchen is very reasonably priced and takes gluten allergies seriously. They use a separate meal prep area for those who are gluten-free, which is part of the criteria when we choose a place to eat. They have a make your own pasta section where you can load up with all the sauce, vegetables, and toppings you could ask for. Two thumbs way up!

Menu Highlights: Make Your Own Pasta

Pizza Crosta ✭✭✭ | Price: $

5590 Roswell Rd, Sandy Springs, GA 30342

(404) 843-1200

If you’re in the Sandy Springs area…count yourself blessed that you can order for delivery from Pizza Crosta. If you don’t live there, go visit and watch them toss the dough in the air. They prepare the gluten-free meals in the back away from all the flour. The downside is…it may take a long while to get your pizza. The staff take their time and aren’t always customer minded. But when they get it right…the pizza is top notch!

Menu Highlights: Make Your Own 10” Pizza

Egg Harbor Café ✭✭✭✭ | Price: $

5920 Roswell Road, Sandy Springs, GA 30328

(404) 389-9915

Although Egg Harbor isn’t really a gluten-free establishment, a fact they are upfront about…they do have gluten-free options. Just be sure to remind the staff before ordering that you’re ordering from the gluten free menu. They do a lot of things well here; eggs, grits, salad, hashbrowns, pancakes, cinnamon rolls, sandwiches, etc. They definitely have a wide variety of gluten-free choices, possibly more than establishments that are only gluten-free. The staff are also trained in how to handle gluten-free orders with care. Worth a visit!

Menu Highlights: GF Pancakes, GF Cinnamon Rolls, GF Roswell Scrambler

Marietta Pizza Co. ✭✭✭✭ | Price: $$$

3 Whitlock Ave SW, Marietta, GA 30060

(770) 419-0900

This is my wife’s favorite pizza…and I can tell you with complete confidence she’s very picky. The pizza is absolutely delicious and with dairy-free/vegan options to boot! The crust can be fairly thin, but definitely not a deal breaker.

Menu Highlights: Caprese Salad, Hawaiian Pizza (with crispy crust), White Pizza

Cuban Diner ✭✭✭ | Price: $

1484 Roswell Rd, Marietta, GA 30062

(770) 509-2576

While there aren’t many gluten/dairy free options, there are plenty of GF menu items, and I can attest to them being very delicious. The staff is welcoming and friendly and make sure to get any allergen requirements met. The manager will even come by your table and explain the precautions in place. The portions are more than you’d expect for the money. You’ll leave full and happy!

Menu Highlights: Fried Yuca, Flan

The Marietta Local ✭✭✭ | Price: $$

148 Roswell St NE, Marietta, GA 30060

(770) 794-2299

Located right dab in the middle of Marietta Square, and with outdoor seating, this is a great place to visit for breakfast or lunch. There aren’t many gluten free options (3 that are marked), but you can make substitutions and the staff are very helpful to oblige.

Menu Highlights: Blue Devil Salad, Mom’s Meatloaf, Roasted Chicken

Burger 21 ✭✭✭✭✭ | Price: $$

1300 Ernest W Barrett Pkwy NW #310, Kennesaw, GA 30144

(678) 293-8010

I love cheeseburgers. My wife loves cheeseburgers. I don’t know too many people who don’t enjoy a good cheeseburger. Burger 21 makes a really good burger and on request they’ll serve up a gluten free option no one could resist. And the fact that they take GF allergies seriously, and have had no mishaps I’ve heard of…rank them high on my local burger recommendation.

Menu Highlights: GF Sweet Potato Fries, GF Chicken Tenders
